Brownies with Popping Candy

I have a new ‘Flavour of the Month’ for April 2024 – Brownies with Popping Candy ✨

I’m so excited about this flavour as it’s something new and different that I haven’t tried before. Also lots of fun.

It took a bit of creativity to get this recipe to work. My first attempt of sprinkling popping candy over the brownies once they had cooled off didn’t work out. The poppy candy fizzed and popped, and that was the end of it! Attempt number two of setting the popping candy into some Dairy Milk has worked beautifully. I’m so pleased with the result.

The brownies are rich and gooey and the topping of Dairy Milk chocolate is crisp to add some contrast, and then you get the fun of the candy popping. It’s not overwhelming, just a gently fizz.

I’ve definitely enjoyed my breakfast today! I made the second batch of brownies last night and needed to check that the pop held up overnight. I’m delighted to say that it did, the brownies crackled and were even better than I expected.
